A Look at the Defending Champions: Team Wiskota Dynamic
The Commish, looking resplendent in his fantasy rainbow jersey, drew the last pick in the draft order. However, with a top end of El Purito Rodriguez and the “Tourminator” Sagan, el Champion was under very little duress. Purito, if he is allowed to race, will score points. Sagan may be the strongest rider in the World Tour. However, the drop off from these two is quite drastic as Jurgen Van Den Broeck was the first pick taken by Team Wiskota at the end of the third round. The middle of the draft was where the Commish made hay. With picks like Van Garderen, Talansky, Cunego, Gesink, and Brakjovik; Wiskota Dynamic will be well represented in the Grand Tours and stateside alike. Geraint Thomas, Fillippo Pozzotto, and Sylvain Chavanel will give this team cards to play in the classics as well. Chavanel, La Machine, is definitely poised for a big year and despite the questions raised by this reporter, Geraint Thomas looks to score big points already at the TdU. The bottom end of the draft was where Team Wiskota struggled the most. Peter Velits was drafted due to his boyish good looks and the Commish probably waited too long to pick his country, USA, and team, Movistar, as both could be contenders to finish last in this league.
