Le Pacte de Lupes comes from behind on the last weekend to pip El Jefe on the line. Powered in large part by the Tour winning Jumbo Visma squad, The Wolf Pack devoured points in the sprints and the mountains. The perennial runner up finally comes good for a win of his own. This should put to rest the constant comparisons to Poulidor by the merciless Wiskota press. El Jefe came into the last weekend with a narrow lead with all seeming to be up for grabs at Il Lombardia. However, when the dust settled, the rival riders negated each other with no significant gains. Rather, it turned out to be a sneaky win by the wizard himself, Merlier, in a random late season Belgian race that made the difference. Lombardia did make the difference for Gregario Forza as a late season push helped him to secure his record tying sixth podium.
