Cleaning up after the week's events...

Tour of California
TVG finally takes home a stage race win.
I won a stuffed bear!

Team Wiskota Dynamic cleaned house with the two leading points earners at the ToC.  TVG racked up the overall GC as well as plenty of stage points along the way.  Peter Sagan only managed to win two stages but with some other high placings still brought home a pretty sizable point total.  Even Chava managed to score two 8th place finishes chipping in his 4 points.  All in all, it is pretty clear who dominated this race.  However, the efforts of the other teams should not be overlooked.  The much maligned Tyler Farrar made the Commish eat crow as he took his first stage of the season and managed to get several more podium finishes throughout the week.  Speaking of high finishes, Thor cast his hammer back into the fast man conversation with several top ten finishes.  Is this the beginning of a resurgence for Farrar and Thor?  Just in time for Le Tour?  Taco hopes so. Gregario Forza's hard to define rider, Lieuwe Westra, brought in a respectable 44 points winning stage one and finishing second in the TT.  The ToC seemed a little different this year, different lineup, different course.  What did you think?  Better or worse?

Mick Rogers came in second, scoring 92 points.
Too bad nobody drafted him...wait, what?

  1. This is not the beginning of a resurgence for Farrar and Thor.

  2. I disagree, at least part ways. Farrar will probably win a stage in the leadup to the Tour and/or at the Tour. Winning brings confidence and confidence brings wins.

Who is Liuwe Westra? I thought he could climb. I know he can TT. But he's sprinty? Probably not. He's certainly dutch!
Sagan seemed human last week. It was nice to see.

Cali was sort of cool this year. I am often down on this race but it had cool stages with some decisiveness. Diablo not as cool as Baldy? Also, the field seemed weaker, or was it that Levi and Horner weren't there? Does that possibly make the field weaker? It was really cool to see Matty B. ride well. I hope TVG can carry this form into the rest of the Tour buildup. Cali could be his downfall as it seems American riders try to peak for the Golden Bear. It will be hard to hold form until July. Side note. TVG riding Suisse this year and Evans goes to the Dauphine.

  3. Farrar does NOT win a stage at the tour. That's got the commish's guaranty. I would be willing to take side bets.
Westra is an enigma. Thought he was a one weeker but maybe more of a stage hunter, TTer.
Baldy was way cooler than Diablo.
The field was weak. I think that is partly due to the extra strong Giro field.
If Colorado is as good this year as it has been than it will claim dominance as the states best race and should get WC status.
